THE AUCKLAND MARKETS. AN INCREASE IN PRICES. There was an increase in prices it tlj Auckland fruit sales this morning, un a general scarcity of supplies in a number of lines, and prices increased for ■Delicious apples, tree tomatoes, oranges and bananas. Pears sold at an exceedingly cheap rate for this time of tl* year, and apples were also very reasonable. There was an increased demand for oranges, occasioned doubtless by weather conditions. Cheaper varieties made from 14/6 to 15/3 per re-packed case. Oranges are now selling ex store. Bananas are still fairly scarce, and likely to be until the next Fiji boat. Good ripe varieties sold this morning at a3 much -* */ per case. The demand is considerably « excess of the supply. Lemons are etui in fair quantity, and prices were «omewhat easier. Good quality cured lemons are still holding their own. A few esses of guavas on the market brought from 8/ to 9/ per email case. Mandarins an still scarce, and are likely to be.untu the next Sydney boat. Tomatoes »" also wry scarce, and grapes are no* quite finished. A good line of rljl kumaras brought satisfactory prices. In the produce section potatoes wCTJ easier in price. The marktft was *« stocked with all varieties, and pneel on the whole were well sustained, «• ling to a good demand, except cauliflowers, which were easier than Wj week. Kumaras were keenly after.
