COMMUNITY SINGING.
(To the Editor.) Sir.—l notice that several of your Correspondents have complained of Overcrowding at the Town Hall, when Community singing is in progress on Wednesdays. May I suggest an easy Way to avoid that trouble? Auckland is fortunate in possessing quite a number of costly churches tbat are practically vacant throughout the week, so why not arrange for the use of some of these. Attached to the churches Is everything necessary for community ■inging, which hag been carried on within then- walls ever since they were built. Community singing is not new; the oldest Psalms werre adapted to it. What is new is the attitude of the people, who now apparently get more pleasure by shouting "Old John Brown Lies Smouldering in the Grave," or "Pack Up Tour Troubles," than in reverently singing "Oh, God, our Help" «*•Ttock of Ages." The new form of T^'°^ y _±? in « is Popular, so far as ™isxi{Zl\eJr>*V* it would help tbe following accept tWngs as ftev Hall, w<mM scope f or humour t, M * and B™ 6 s «ne their Sunday c s™**«m with to think they leadTw\tWv cler gy *&<_ recent erase for coi Wn £„;, l _r 6 . aid ~t this may be enabled to lead tiL* I*B1 * 8 «*y to X\ut churches now «o I*?? 16 W_k! q_ Sundaj-WrJ. am, etc eß * cte d, even DICK.
