BURNING OF THE COSPATRICK.
(To the Editor.) c * Sir, —Tbe recent accounts in your supplement of the old sailing ships trading to this port must have proved most interesting to your numerous readers, ' especially to the 'old timers." Reference to the burning at sea of the ship CO9--patrick on her voyage to this city with immigrants, including a large number of domestic helps, reminded mc of the thrilling account given by the only two survivors from the wreck. I believe only two boatloads of passengers got away from the ship, one was never heard of again, and the other was picked up by a ship which hove in sight. The men in this boat had all gone mad and died except two. One of these men was fast asleep ai the tiller, and the other was lying in the bottom of the boat, raving mad and in his anguish, craving for food. . bit the steersman's hoot, which awoke the latter. A ship was then in sight and a signal was hoisted and resulted in the rescue of the two survivors.—T am. etc., JOHN A. BEALE.
