SLAUGHTERMEN DECLINE WORK.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. A few days ago the Whakatu Freezing Works ottered to take slaughtermen back this morning for about a mouth's work to complete the season. Only one beef butcher turned up. It is believed that the abstention of others wae due to union influence. A meeting of the union will be held to-night, when more definite information will be obtained. Meantime waiting cattle are drifting off to the Wellington works.
