COUNTRY FIRES.
HOMESTEAD AN© GARAGE DKSTROYED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) MORiRERSVTLXB, Saturday. Thr eight-roomed homestead of Mr. A. H. Tompkins, of Hamilton, at Motu-1 ha.oho. which was occupied by Mr. G. I iSpenoer, the farm manager, has been j destroyed by fire. A defective chimney | is thought to have caused the outbreak. Mr. J. G. Muir's garage and large motor car were destroyed by fire on i Saturday morning. The car was insured! for £500 and the garage for £20 in the K<»w Zealand office. Mr. Muir is said to l> , a heavy loser. A LAUNDRY BtSRNED OUT. (By Telegrapn—Own CorreEonndenL.) ROTTORUA, Saturday. The laundry building of Mrs. Smith, in Walker Road, caught fire early this morning and was totally de«troy«l with its contents, which included "f3OO or £400 -worth of laundry -.york from the Kinjr Georgu Hospital. There was only £100 insurance on the building in the Australian Alliance Office. A WAIEERI ITERE. The school residence at Wafkeri, occupied by the Misses Topia, teachers,-wae destroyed by fire, the vouna , women only escaping with difficulty without saving anything but their night clothes. The adjoining resident of Henare Puke-on wa> also destroyed, but the contents •were salvaged.
