outbreak on arawa. not otns-debed serious. £By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, this day. A fire was discovered on the Home liner Arawa this morning on arrival here from Gisborne. . The outbreak, which is not located, beyond the fact that it is in No. 3 lower hold, which is full of mutton and beef loaded at Gisborne and Auckland. The head office was expected to order the ship on to Wellington for discharge, as the meat in the holds was softening. The vessel was to load 33,000 freight carcases, 300 bales wool, and 300 casks tallow here. The outbreak is not considered serious. The Arawa is a steel twin-screw steamer of 9372 tons, built at Newcastle by Messrs. Swan, Hunter, and Wigham Richardson, Ltd., in 1907, for the owners, the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company. She is of the following dimensions: Length, 460 ft; breadth, 60ft; depth, 31ft. The Arawa left Auckland early on the morning of the 14th inst. for Gisborne to continue Homeward loading. At this port she discharged a large quantity of cargo and commenced loading Homeward produce.
