Salt in whitewash makes it etiok. In the event of jelly roiueing to set, the addition of juice of a. lemon, and, failing this, some white vinegar, often assists the process. A copper kettle should he rubbed, with a rut. lemon (lipped in powdered batti brick. When all the stains have disappeared it should be washed with warm soapy water, and finally polished with a soft vloth and powdered bath brick. Wheu using marking ink for linen, mark the initials on the linen witn an ordinary lead pencil and then trace ■with tin; ink over the pencil marks. Ingredients. —:)oz. beeswax, XJ; lAoz. whitewash, 2d; loz. eastillc soap, "id; 1 pint turpentine, 1/3: 1 pint boiling water; total cost, 2/5.
