LADIES ' SHOES.

A MAGNIFICENT DISPLAY AT THE WINTER SHOW. THE BARTON QUALITY. The talk of the show as far as the lady visitors are concerned is the display of ladies' shoes made by Barton's Boot , Factory, at Kingsland, Auckland. It is not boasting to state that the exhibit j represents the finest display of ladies' footwear ever brought to public notice in J New Zealand. All the latest shapes and 1 colours are displayed in a good corner stnnd covered with leathers of various hues. The high quality of manufacture s is perfectly obvious, and many people at the show have been asking where they can buy the Barton brand of shot-s, f others being particularly keen to asecr- .' tain where, the newer season's mo.'.els, as h exhibited, could be obtained, t WHITE SHOES AND COT-OUUS. c Barton's are the largest manufacfacturers of white shoes in New Zealand, s and last summer considerably over 10,000 '• pairs were made in just over three •" months, and many people were dis- ' satisfied because the factory was unable; 2 to cope with extra orders. Not one pair| 11 of these shoes was soiled. The firm also 11 carries the widest variety of coloured y leather of any warehouse in New Zeas land, and the exhibit is indeed testimony ' to this fact. One could pardon a lady admirer of the display for remarking, | "Look at that mottled kauri-looking pair." The popular colours in vogue toj day are bronze, came] fawns and ?reys, s whilst there is increasing demand for black and whito, grey and brown and . other combination shades. s Many ladies find it troublesome to get f shoes to match their dresses or costumes, and require to look generally for a neu-j I tral scheme of colour to give more i 3 varied service Hence, fawns and greys! \ aro popular liecause they will go with. r clothes of most colours. The Barton fac-1 f tory output is approximately 1000 pairs of shoes per week. No hand labour is , used in any shape or form, i THE LATEST MODELS. ] Mr. Barton is showing twenty-five new samples of white shoes for next summer of which possibly the most popular will 1 be the sandal type, although the now | style of court shoe without ornament, 'is sure to be sought after. The black r shoes comprise glace, patents and swedes, 5 and there are over twenty different 5 shades of greyes and tans, together with twenty to thirty lines of the combina-' tion colours. Special are the imitation calf leather shops in croendile, walrus, lizard, and mottled calf. Then corr.e the attractive champagne, bronze, and other -lindos of <!Tfivs and tans, together with | style. Dancing shoes in satin of all colours are made at Barton's factory, which is very up-to-date in all respects. SUBSTITUTE FOR PUMPS. The idea that pump shoes are the only pliable shoes for dancing and light walkingwear, has been completely exploded; by Mr. Barton, who makes a special M.S. brand known as the "McKay," the | soles of which curl up with facility, and are easily repaired, whereas pumps can-! not be repaired except at much expense. The "McKay" is flexible and welldesigned to entirely displace the imported pumps on the' market. It is a big gap from bluchers to ladies' but since 191i>, Barton's have gradually worked up and developed <heir craft pmanshin in the makinc of ladies' shoes, and the firm to-day is the only one in New Zealand exclusively specialising in this department of manufacture. That complete and wor'hy sue-: less has been achieved is beyond ques- , tion, and it would seem that the time is not far off when the importation of ladies' shoes will he a tliins; of the past. The firm says: "When better shoes are made Barton will make them." and those who see the show display will appreciate the declaration and its possibilities. j Messrs. Arrh. Clark and Sons. Ltd.,' : and' Mr. Alfred Tyree are North Tsland ; wholesale distributors of Tiarton"s shoes. I :
