In every household, one supposes, there have been occasions when the lid of the teapot has fallen off into the cup, with disastrous results to the tablecloth. Such an occurrence was no doubt a contributory cause of Mr. E. C. Cutten, 8.M., being occupied at the Court to-day with a" claim for damages in respect to a patent device for holding on the lid of a teapot. The inventor said his wife asked him to devise something to keep the Ud from falling off. He did so, then patented the device. The case to-day was in connection with the sale of the patent.
At the Police Court to-day, before Mr J. W. Poynton, S.M., Charles Xegu's (54) and Thomas Mitchell (42) were each fined 20/ for street fighting, and several drunks were dealt with. This was all the businees,
