POPPY DAY FUNDS.
STATEMENT OF ACCOUNTS. The Auckland Returned Soldiers' Afso eiation has issued the following official statement, showing the result of the collections on Poppy Day:— Poppies supplied, 2358 large; 37,036 small. 11 * s. d. OSS 12 0 Surplus cash jnbscribed * £177 1- 2 EXPENSES. raid to Headquarters, 3d en small poppies; 10d on large poppies, to b≥ remitted to France 55 - 3 9 Local expenses, including printing and advertising (CI 5/8), petty expenses 41 - * 55 per rent of share of Auckland Provincial District and Wellington Headquarters expenses, including organisation, wases and petty expenses (estimated t0ta1).... 130 0 0 Total expenses for Auckland... £713 8 0 Balance for Distribution £1,552 16 2 The above statement of the proceeds of Poppy Day applies to Auckland city and suburbs only. A perusal of the statement shows that £177 12/2 was subscribed over and above the pricee of poppies. the total amount collected being £226ti 4/2. Among the expenses is an amount of £932 5/9. This amount is the Auc-k----knd city portion to be remitted to France. " The amount of £120 dietriet expenses is an estimated amount, estimated by Dominion headquarters on a population basis as a pro rata contribution to Dominion expenses, but full provision has been made for any further expenses that may arise. The balance of £1552 IC/2 is for distribution for the providing of employment for the unemployed returned soldiers of the city, and this amount will be handed over to the committee set up by the A.R.S.A. executive on Wednesday last. The committee asked to undertake the distribution is ac follows: His Worship the Mayor (Mr. J. H. Ouneon), Mr. 11. 11. Mackenzie (chairman of the Harbour Board). Mr. E. W. luder (president of the A.R.S.A.), and Messrs. A. C. A. Sexton and S. Austin Carr (vice-presi-dents of the A.R.S.A.).
