FROSTS AT TAIHAPE.
The weather at Taihape during the month had been remarkable for the number oi frosts, some of which have been very severe. In twenty-live days there were twenty-three frosts, and on two mornings the temperature inside was down to 25 degrees. The freezing of the water in the pipes caused an extraordinarily large number or Dreakagee, and made things uncomfortable for many householders. The local plumbers haL a busy time for several days, as there were some hundreds of buret water pipes which required attention. The loug spell of dry. frosty weather has caused a serious shortage of water in the portion of the town not served by the borough supply, and some of the residonts had to carry water for domestic us*-. It is many years <incr> there was any shortage of water in Taihape at this time of the year, but the weatlior changed on Friday, when a light rain was rxprr'u-noed, and a heavy downpour later lilM up the tanks.
