The first of two qualifying rounds for the senior and junior championships of the Maungakiekie Golf Club was played on Saturday, the former-on the Tltlrangi links. New Lynn, and the latter at the Maungakiekie links, One-tree Hill. The links were rather heavy owing to the wet weather, and sudden squalls were experienced during the afternoon. THE M3DDLEMORE LINKS. PItOPOSED NEW CLUBHOUSE. A proposal to erect a new clubhouse at Middlemore was considered at a special meetIng of the Auckland Golf Club held in the Chamber of Commerce on Saturday evening when Mr. J. B. Lusk, chairman of the committee, brought forward a proposal to raise £11.000 on debentures for that purpose. He suggested that the committee be authorised to spend £750 on alterations to the existing clubhouse in the event of the money ror the new building not being available The meeting approved of the larger scheme, and authorised the committee to spend up to £1000 on the present clubhouse should the scheme for the new structure not be completed. The members also decided that £750 be spent in reticulating the links with a water service, and, further, that the dub's bank overdraft be liquidated.
