An accident resulting in the death of n young man named Frank Lawrence., solicitor, of Marton. occurred last night at the hridge. opposite Mr. <;. D. Riddiford's homestead on the Bulls-Marton road, about 13 miles from Marton. Tne car was driven by Mr. S. Coombo. farmer, of Marton, two other occupants being Mr F. Whiteombe. manager of the Bank of New South Wales, and Mr. F. S. Lawrence, of Marton. The car overturned at one of the mostdangerous bridges in the RaiigitiUii Count v. Tlie'menibers of the party were returning from Bulls when the car went over the side of the bridge. Mr. Lawrence was instantly killed, "but the othpr two occupants escaped with minor injuries. All three occupants were pinned beneath the car for two hours before they were extricated, ffl Deceased was one of the most promising citizens of Marton. and recently passed his solicitor's examination. He was a prominent figure in sporting circles in his district, and :i fortnight ago was presented with the Calpin Cup as champion athlete of Rangitikei district. He was about - 24 years of age. His parents reside at Aramoho. Witnganui.
