Mr. M. H. Gunn of the district health office, at Auckland, has beer promoted to the position of district clerk at Christehurch, and is leaving by the express on Sunday evening to take up his new position. Dr. R. H. Makgill, on behalf of the members of the staff in the district, last evening presented him with a handsome travelling bag and rug as tokens of j their respect and good fellowship.
