HacLAREN'S TEAM. THE XEW ZEALAND TOUR. (T.v Telegraph.—Tress Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. A letter has been issued by the Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council to all affiliated associations setting out the propose.! policy of the committee in regard to the visit of the English amateur team, under the captaincy of Mr. MaeLaren, during the coming season. The letter states: —
"Your committee are now able to report thai arriiiijiemen'ts have been practically completed with the M.C.C., and that the English amateur team selected and captained by Mr. A. C. Mac I.a re n will play a series of matches in New Zealand and Australia next season. The present financial position of the council docs not allow us to consider the possibility of a Dominion team going on tour for some time, but your commit lee propose to establish a reserve fund for this purpose. With this object in view we propose to shoulder the whole financial responsibilities of the M.C.C. tour. In the event of the tour heing the financial success we anticipate the associations controlling the matches on behalf of the council will he allowed not less than 10 per cont. of the net profit from their matches, the amount to he allocated by the committee at the conclusion of the tour. We ask fcr the support of all associations to this proposal as your committee feel certain it is only by sending our players on tour periodically thai we can improve our cricket to the standard which will enable us to compete on equal terms with the great centres of cricket."
