OBITUARY.
> MRS. W. J. WRIGHT. The death occurred at West Tamaki on June 10. of Mrs. Jane Mathewson i Wright, wife of Mr. W. J. Wright, of ■ Devonport. Deceased arrived here in ' the ship Robert Fletcher, with her ', parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John • Motion, who resided at Richmond for . many years. As Mrs. Wright was vergi ing On 70 years of age, she practically Isaw Auckland develop from a small | town on the waterfront to a city spread* [ ing from the Waitemata to the Manu.kau. In her younger years Mrs. Wright was recognised as a fine singer of Scotch ballads. She possessed a good soprano I voice, and was for years a member of the 1 Auckland Choral Society, Auckland' I Amateur Operatic Society, the Caledonian Society and the Burns Club. Doceased during her long life in Auckland made many friends. Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband, to whom she j was married 43 years ago. For over ' 20 yenrs Mr. and Mrs. Wright resided at Devonport. The interment took pla.ee nt (VXciU's Point Cemetery. j MAORI WAR VETERAN. The death lias occurred at Te Puna. I near Tauranga. of Mr. Peter Bklois. a I very old resilient of the district. He j served with the British forces during : the Maori war. He gained prominence j as a dispatch carrier, and ran many j 1 risks during the performance of his ' duties. He leaves a grown-up family. A brother (Joseph Bidois) was slain at ' Opepc by Te Kooti's men. . | MR. FRANK PAVITT. ii _ — | Word has been received in Te Aroha of the death at Wellington of Mr. Frank i! Pavitt, an old To Aroha hoy. Deceased. ; a surveyor, spent several years in the Malay States, returning three years ago ] broken in health. MR. WILLIAM PACE. Mr. William Paul died suddenly at a Thames bonrdinghouse early yesterday of heart failure, at the age of "4. He was formerly well known at Thames and J its neighbourhood, where he was engaged jin the mining industry and farming. Tic ! leave-; a grown-up family of five sons and three daughters. ! MR. J. E. MOORE. A highly-respected resident, of AuckI land for close upon 10 years. Mr. J. K. j Moore, died this morning. Mr. Moore ; was manager of the Surgical Supply ! Co.. j,, Fort Street. I t was only within ' the lust twelve months that failing health necessitated his retirement from that position. Deceased, who was horn in England, was recognised as a man of upright character. It was only the fact that his health was never good for man-.- I years which prevented him from takin'.r j an active part in public affairs. He; was for a long period a deacon of Mount ! Eden Congregational Church. More recently Mr. Moore resided at Ngaroma ! | Road. Epsom, where his death took ! place.
