TO CORRESPONDENTS.
DUBIOUS.—During last session a Parliamentary committee was set up, with Mr. F. Hockly as chairman, to make a preliminary inquiry into certain licensing matters. This committee will probably have some recommendations to make at the forthcoming session, but the Premier has made it clear on more than one occasion that nothing will be done to materially affect the licensing laws until after the next poll. There was no suggestion of a Royal Commission.
