ANNT'AL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Manukaii Ciiiiutv Council was held tills morning, the chairman i.Mr. A. U. Ilclll presiding. The chairman in his report said, inter alia, that In the l'lipatoetne riding several old bridges were to be renewed liy reinforced concrete structures, the money to be raised under the bridges renewal loan sanctioned some time ago. The steps to procure the money could not. however, be completed until the estimates for the bridges are got out. The ratepayers from Ness Valley to Kaivakiiwn Hay were also arranging for a loan of £1000 for metalling, and the (Irere settlers intend lo follow -nil at an curly date. The Man gere Crossing waterworks scheme bad been completed at a cost of tTiliTO 14/0, leaving a balance of approximately £13:i0 to the credit of the loan account. Arrangements would have to be made to Invest tills balance to the best advantage.
