BIRKENHEAD SCHOOL GROUND
The meeting of lions* holders at Birkenhead last night was again largely attended, Mr. Uolx-rt Darlow presiding. The deputation recently appointed reported the result of their interviews regarding the additional site on tinwestern boundary offered for the purpose of augmenting the school grounds. Mr. H. J. Kmrvs said the Minister had
commented that the four years , , free option on the western property would help the Government during the present financial depression, and that during his visit this ground had not t>een brought under his notice. The Minister had agreed that the price of the ensfcern section previously recommended was ton high. Tlie chairman of the Education Board, he said, also seemed unaware that the western ground was available. and had stated that the board members woufd inspect this property. On the motion of Mr. H. Brardman,
'seconded by Mr. A. Oshorno. it was ! resolved that the Education Board be ! urged to apprise both the householders' 1 deputation and school committee of the time of their projected inspection, and that the merits and demerits of both properties should he explained to the ■ board members. A further meeting of I householders is suhsquently to lie con- • vened and the chairman of the XorthI cote District School Committee, asked ito preside.
