■ I SUGGESTED AMALGAMATION. ' AX ADVERSE RESOLUTION". With reference to a recent deputation that waited on the Auckland City Council, and requested the Mayor and councillors to address a meeting at Mount Albert with a view to that suburb joining the city, the Mayor, Mr. A. F. Bennett, said at last night's meeting of the borough council that the deputation was quite irregular. There was no necessity to seriously consider the matter, he said, as it would be a mistake;, at the present juncture for Mount Albert to amalgamate with the city, and it was not the desire of the majority of the local residents. He moved that tbe council was of opinion that as the request was not in accord, with the desires of the local residents, the City Council he notified that the council does not intend to take any action in the matter. The resolution was seconded by Cr. A. M. Wilson and carried unanilnouslv.
