There were 38 passengers and 2'Jl members of the crew abonrd the Kgypt when she was sunk in collision 'off Ushant by llio .Seine on Saturday. The Seine rescued 242. The missing 87 include &even wotnmi and two ..hildion. The commander of Uic Seine states: "1 was Ktcamin;; at five knots when i suddenly saw the liner looming up through the fop. She crashed into v.«, tore away the bow of my vessel, and then disappeared. I could not pee her. and only hoard a terrible cry ring through the dense fog. I looked for the other vessel, and it took 20 minutes to linrl her. She nafi then lying on her side with a grent hole in her plute*. The air wi\b full of lamentations and heartrending erics. I ordered all the lifebuoys to he thrown into the sci. The lowered liont* rescued all that they could. -, —(A. and N.Z. Cable.) SANK IN TWENTY MINUTES. STRUCK FAIR AMIDSHIPS. LONDON. May SI. There wire thirty-eight passengers and :2!)1 of n crew aboard tiie Egypt, of whom it is reported that fifteen passengers and eighty of the crew are missing. The rescued include the captain of the Kgypt. who say.- that the disaster was due to fog. The Seine suddenly came, into view and struck the Egypt amidships between the funnels. The Egypt tilled rapidly, and sank in twenty minutes. A passenpvr states that the Lascars were greatly eM'ited and rushed some of the boats. — (A. and SX. Cable.l
