STABLING RACEHORSES.
■ Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., had to deal | with a dispute yesterday regarding charges for accommodation for racehorses. John Shaw, stable-owner (Mr. Nutsford) sued VV. G. Stead (Mr. Hogg) to recover £62 alleged to be due for the accommodation of five horses for five weeks at Auckland during the Christmas race meeting and afterwards. Defendant had paid into Court £41 in full satisfaction of the claim, alleging the charges made were excessive. , Evidence wa s given by a number of witnesses as to the charges made for horse ! accommodation. The secretary of the ' Auckland Racing Club stated that that body's charge for loose boxes was 20/ per week, whereas plaintiff's charge was 30/. 1 Mr. Poynton gave judgment for the [amount paid into Court only and also | allowed costs to defendant.
