MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES. ' POSITION IN CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTOHURCH, Monday. The Labour members of the City Council waited on the Mayor this afternoon! and protested against the issue of a' . notice to the council employees that the . Arbitration Court's bonus reduction would operate from May 23, on the f ground that such notice was not . authorised by the Finance Committee, and was, iv any event, contrary to the ' decision of the council fixing the wages ■of its employees. It was contended by , i the speakers that the council alone, after i! due notice had been given, could ■ I authorise any wage reduction. j The Mayor authorised the town clerk Ito withdraw the notices. ANOTHER EXPLANATION WANTED. tSy Telegraph.—Press Association.' DUNEDIN, this day. Some ambiguity seems to exist as to how tbe bonus cut will operate on weekly wages when only part of this ' week is worked. Dwiedin employers "lire the view that if a man on weekly wage works only part of a week the cut will be calculated on' the hours worked.
