Hamilton Borough Council has reduced its overdraft and also its rating levy. Offers for some of the Government war loan stocks advanced 10/ on 'Change to-day. Bulky volume of business to be disposed of by the Arbitration Court while it is in Auckland. Makura, which arrives from Vancouver early in the morning, will resume her voyage to Sydney at 5 pjn. Arbitration Court expects to make its pronouncement on or before Monday respecting the cost of living. Sunspots can at present be observed daily. Mr. Clement Wragge says that cosmic influences are acting upon the sun. Mr. Boyd intends to petition Parliament for £10.000 compensation for loss incurred through interference with the Onehunga Zoo. The valuable launch Dauntless, missing from her moorings at Ponsonby, found at North Shore. A man has been charged with the theft of the boat. Floating wreckage has been reported from two localities —one lot having been seen 40 odd miles off the East Cape and the other 6* miles off Farewell vSpit, Application by Taupiri coalminers to get an alteration to their award this morning was unsuccessful, the president holding that before the Court make any variation both sides must agree. ! Annual balance-sheet of the joint committee of the Ked Cross and St. John Societies shows that the receipts for the past year were £46,677. The disbursements for comforts to returned soldiers amounted to £4220, and the credit balance was £41,761.
