TRANSPORT PROBLEMS.
BY ROAD AND RAILWAY. NEED FOR CO-ORDINATION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The problem of transportation as it affects Canterbury was the subject of a report presented to the Progress League by the organiser (Mr. P. R. Climie), who in accordance with the request of the ; executive reviewed conditions of road and rail transport. "The big question." says the report, "affecting railway policy in the future is clearly that of co-ordination of rait ! and road services as far as may be. Just how far the Government can go is a mat- ; ter for the future to decide, but it is I clear enough that, in Canterbury at anr j rate, there is an outstanding invitation Ito the Department to attack this pro--1 Mem at once." In summarising the conclusions a ■ number of points arc put forward covering new constructions, railway management and road transport. At last night's meeting the executivo 1 decided to discuss the report at the annual meeting, and in the meantime to ! have 3000 copies printed in book form, for circulation.
