QUESTION OF WELLINGTON'S AOCHPTA'XCB. The amended rule in the Kngby Union code, known as the "klck-into-touch" rule, was considered at the meeting of the Wellington Kugiby Union on Tuesday night. The chairman (Mr. J. Prendevllle) presided. The chairman reported the proceeding! at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Kugby Union la*t week. Mr. Prendeville taid that the new rule had now bren unanimously agreed to by the N.Z.R/F.U. Mr. B. Perry: Nelson and Varlborough opposed it. The chairman said that doubt hid arisen as to the exact wording of the amended rule. Mr. J. Heeaan quoted from the letter sent to the Rugby unions by the N.Z.R.F.U. He understood that the authority given by the English Rugby Union wai Intended only to extend to the Auckland province. The chairman said the delegates at the N.Z.'R.F.U. were advised that the application applied to New Zealand and Australia. Ut. J. N. Mlllard laid that the Wellington Union would be bound toy the majority of Che unions affiliated to the N.Z.R.F.TJ. The chairman agreed with this view. Soma discussion took place on the qne* tion whether Auckland would play no rules, beyond the authorised code, other than the klck-lnto-touch rule. Mr. W. J. Hardham said that, though opposed to the amended rule, he felt that It would be better to follow the decision of the majority. Mr. H. Back: W« mast be loyal to the CN'ew Zealand Union. % It was decided, on the motion of Mr. Hardham. that the matter be deferred until official advice was received from the ■SXiRJCV. \ The committee of the New Zealand Rngby Union decided that all unions and the New Zetland Referees' Association be notified at the resolution passed by the annual meeting of the adoption of the kicking Into touch amendment, the rule to come Into operation Immediately. It was arranged that diagrams Illustrating the operation of the rule regarding the kicking into touch rule be sent to every club and every referee in the Dominion, so ns to ensure uniformity of ruling.
