(Krom Our Own Correspondent.) SUVA, April 26. THE BAXAXA INDUSTRY. Newe has come to Suva that Colonel Dyer is busy in Canada trying to arrange for larger and better ventilated cold space in the "Scottish" line of' steamers, with a view to the establishment, of a large banana trade between Fiji and Vancouver. DKHYDRATED BAXAXAS. \ The difficulty of disposing of green I bananas lias suggested another mode of disposal. Mr. A. H. Witherow nurchased some months ago, one of the latest dehydrating plants brought here ac a' sample from California, where they are ' in general use, and hae prepared a quan- j titv of bananas by this process. The ' results have-been most satisfactory. He ' dried the peeled bananas in two ways,! whole and halved long-ways. In the case of the first, the fruit had been in the drier 32 to 33J houre at temperatures of 140 to 100 degrees; in. the case of the halved fruit, the time taken wae 16 to, 19 hours at an even temperature of 140;' degrees. A butter box, lined with grease : paper, was filled with packet* of the! fruit and for three months it has kept i sweet and wholesome. H.M.S. VERONICA. The war eloop Veronica has left for ' Xew Zealand after a pleasant although short stay in Fiji waters. She visited Lautoka, and her company were made much of in that hospitable port. '
