TYPHOID OUTBREAK.
BELIEVED TO BE DECLINING. A FEW NOTIFICATIONS. j There is every sign that the worst of the typhoid outbreak is now over, and although a. few 'additional case- arc anticipated within the next week or ■ so. there i* every reason to believe that i the epidemic is on the decline. No frcnh cases have 'been admitted to the Auckland Hospital, where the majority of cases are reported to be making very satisfactory progress. Dr. I Majruire stated this morning that there, j were one or two severe cases that were | occasioning eomr anxiety, btit. on Ihe \ whole the patients were doing very well i indeed. ! Inquiries at, th<> Mental Hospital oli- ! Hted the fact that there had been no j further deaths at the institution, and that no further cases had been reported. Inoculation is still proceeding at Mt. ! Albert undor direction of tln> Health j Department, where Dr. Davis has be-en . in attendance for the pa3t day or so. A j fair number of residents are still offering themselves for treatment by vaccine. Four additional caws were reported | to the health authorities this morning, i all from the Mt. Albert district. j THE SCHOOLS. ; Regarding the Eriendale, Mount Albert. Point Chevalier, and Eden Park model schools, which were closed by order of the Health Department, owing to the typhoid epidemic, the Education Board decided this morning that they should remain open during the May holidays.
