Overseas Glass Manufacturers Watch New Zealand Jealously This country is a great market for every description of glassware—the annual imports running into hundreds of thousands of pounds. Australian, English, American, Belgian and Japanese glass manufacturers watch this country with jealous eyes—local agents and visiting salesmen work this country from end to end for orders, but nothing they can do will save local users of glassware from paying the heavy freights, or paying for the big- losses by breakages which often amount to twenty-five per cent, of a shipment. But it does demonstrate the necessity for a New Zealand Glass Works, and it does demonstrate that big profits are here to be earned by a local Glass Works.
