ANZAO DAY OBSERVANCE.

Sir, —May I assure "Rosemary" and "One Who Has Lost" that the activities of the ex-service Airmen on Anzac Day call for the most worthy praise rather than the undue reprehension expressed by these correspondents. I cannot but feel that they have been mis-informed. I await t-beir pleasure to place before them a full detailed report of the activities of Anzac Day, which were profoundly reverent throughout.—l am, etc., TREVOR "WHITE, Secretary, Auckland Service Aero CliAw (To the Editor.) •Sir, —'Will you give mc space to suggest that this country has too many holidays? The cry of the Government is, produce. The only way to do this is to cut out some of the holidays. It is evident to all the enormous financial loss in wages for this day cannot be overtaken. There is no one in New Zealand more grateful to our soldiers than myself, and I suggest, in their interest, that this day be in future a working day with a mid-day pause, and the worker give 25 per cent, and the employer give the same to be placed to a fund to provide for injured soldiers, and the upkeep and education of their families. This would not be a charity, but the undoubted right for the men who went through the hell they did) in order to keep us free. The old saying is equally true to-day: "An ounce of practical help is worth a ton of senseless sympathy. , ' —l am, etc., T. F. LOXG. (To the Editor.) Sir, —Allow mc to join in the protest against Colonel Maekesy's" vorde in reference to a near approach to another war. Apart from not being a suitable time, viz., Anzac Day, I am utterly opposed to the spirit of war, and there is no surer way of bringing it about than by engendering the idea amongst the people. Surely we had enough in our day and generation. —I am, etc., Q.
