CRUISE OF YACHT AMARYLLIS. DEPARTURE FROM AUCKLAND. Lieutenant G. H. P. Muhlhauser, R.N.R., owner and master of the yawldigged yaclit Amaryllis, accompanied T>y a sailing companion, a Mr. Tadgell, of 'Melbourne, and his two deck hands, ■heaved anchor yesterday morning and entered upon the second stage of hi-s round-the-world voyage. The first stage was completed when the Amaryllis arrived in Auckland on the last day of the old year.

Lieut. Muhlhauser made many friend* , in Auckland, and a number of these, in S-'he yacht, Viking, accompanied him as far as Tiri Tiri Island to see him well started on his voyage. Under a fresh i •breeze from the south-east the yacht, with all her canvas set and her top-sail \ spreading out in the wind, appeared to be making between nine and ten knots an hour when fihe got clear of the land. Bearing round the North Cape a course will be set for Noumea, and con- j tinning from these, the stopping places will be the Isle of Pine= (New Caledonia). Loyalty Islands, New Hebrides, i Banks Islands, Santa Cruz, the Solomon Group, Port Moresby (Papua), Thursday Island. Java, Singapore, Ceylon, and Suez. ProbaWy a prolonged stay will ! 'be made at Singapore until the commencement of the nortli-east monsoon.

Lieut. Muhlhaufors feat has already come under distinguished notice, and lie. has been deservedly awarded the cup ofl'ered by the Royal Cruising Club of England to the first successful yachtsman to make the cruise from England to the Antipodes.
