MOUNT ALBERT BOROUGH.
SUGGESTED AMALGAMATION WITH CITY. A deputation from the Mount Albert Ratepayers' Association waited on the City Council last evening for the purpose of asking the "Mayor and councillors to visit Mount Albert at an early date to discuss the advisability of that borough amalgamating with the city. Mr. Forbes Eadie. who headed the deputation, said that Mount Albert was faced with some very serious problems— drainage, water and lighting —that were becoming too large to be considered by the Borough Council. They had not lost faith in their Council, but in Mount Albert they were suffering from an epidemic, and one of the factors was lack oi suitable drainage. They also wanted an incinerator to do away with house-' hold oarbage. At present they had a dump, "which had been a bone of contention for some months past. The method , of disposing of that rubbish was by buryin"' }t, and the only way to deal with it was with an incinerator, but Mount \lbcrt could not, on its own. possibly finance its establishment. ■ It would have to amalgamate with some other body. ;vj r x. Long also addressed the Council. The Mayor (Mr. J. H. Gunson) snid that the request would receive full consideration. It was eventually decided to refer the .matter to the Mount Albert Borough Council, and when a reply is received a committee, consisting of the City Council as a -whole, *wilj discuss __ ". ■£g J) ij's-j'Sß«fcS^^
