BIG SCHEME IN N.S.W. TEN MILLION ACRES ON THE MURRAY. (Received 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Under the Government's country development plan it is understood that the first scheme adopted will apply to the Murray River lands, where 9,650,00 C acres, at present held under grazing leases, carrying an average of one cheep to thirty acres, will be available. Exeepi about 20 per cent, the whole of this k ; considered usable for wheat growing In addition there are some 390,000 acre* which it is proposed to place under irri gation and divide into small blocks foi intensive cultivation. Three railways involving 300 miles of lines, with thre< bridges across the Murray to link v] ■with the Victorian lines, will be required to bring the area under closer settle ment.
