Senator Simons, speaking in epposi tion to the Tariff Bill, said if it wen passed indignation in the country woulc assume greater proportions than in thi case of the Payne Aldrich Law. Hi added that despite the increases on agri cultural products farmers will pay flvi dollars in increased prices for ever; dollar they gain by- the tariff. He de nounced it as the 'worst bill which eve: crossed the threshold of the Senate, an< concluded that while the Treasury ma; gain .150,000,000 dollars by the dutie; the same duties will tax the people ti the extent of billions. — (A. and N.Z.)
