POPPY DAY.
(To tne JDdKor.) Sir, —What interests mc most in Monday's account of Poppy Day are the words, "After expenses are deducted." IV c were led to believe that these poppies were being sold for a very excellent purpose, and I, and no doubt many other'!, naturally assumed that they would be shipped to New Zealand and distributed free of charge, and sold by voluntary workers. As a percentage of the proceeds is for the benefit of returned soldiers, I cannot understand why the K.S.A. did not get in right away and arrange for out of work escsolciicrs to sell the flowers on a commission basis. By thi s means the proceeds would go to those who were originally intended to benefit. —I am, etc., P. CHILMAN.
