MEETING OP CIXt COCXCIL. Tbe City Conneil net last evening. Present: The Mayor (Mr. J. H. Gunson), Councillors B. Melville, G. KnlgM. G. K. Hutchinson, J. Robertson, W. 3. Holds worth, F. W. H. Brinsden, J. Demosey, J. W. C. Allum, G. "BaUdos, G. Davig, E. B. Darts, J. B. Paterson. J. A. Warnock, 11. 'X. Bagnall, "M. .1. Bennett; 3. TV. Hardier and Si.-J. Savage, M;P. " The Auckland Provincial Employers' Association wrote stating that the Marine and Power Engineers- institute were desirous of ascertaining whether .the employers concerned would agree to an extension of the shift engineers' agreement which expired on May 1. next, sad asking if, la tbe Council's opinion, a meeting, of the employers concerned should be held. The matter was referred to tbe chairman of tbe Works and Tramways Committee with pawer to act. The City. Sinking Fend Commissioners asked for an enlargement of their powers in tbe investment of funds, particularly the Investment of £25,000 in the purchase of 6 iper cent debentures Issued by the Auckland Harbour Board. The Council agreed. The Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Hughes, forwarded a certificate to the Council under section 47 of the Health Act, 1920. that No. 85, Wellesley Street West, owned by the Great Northern Brewery, Ltd., was unfit for use or occupation, and he ordered it to be demolished. The -chief sanitary inspector stated that the property referred to adjoined the Shamrock Hotel, and -was used iby tiie licensee for storage purposes, and it was. in a *eir-r dilapidated conjliaon. The matter was referred to tie Work* Committee, with power to act.
