PRODUCQTION OF BUTTER.
XEW PLAXT AT EAST TAMAKI. Last evening a general meeting of suppliers of the East Tamaki Co-opera-tive Dam - Company, Ltd.. wae heid at the local public hall to discuss extensions tor the coming Beason. The chairman. Mr. 1". H. Leonard, outlined the success of the Company's first year of working. The company's butter had been manufactured under a very advantageous eontrax-t in Auckland, but ; tlie time had now arrived when the company must make arrangement* to finish ;its own product. Fortunately the sound financial position had enabled the directors to recommend immediate extensions and therefore they had carefully considered the question of the respective merits of butter and cheese plants. Th» matter had been fully discussed by tie directors, but 'they preferred simply to lay the two proposals before the shareholders and ask them to vote for the proposal which rhey preferred. The rival claims of butter and cheese were freely discussed, and when finally the question was put to the meeting, an overwhelming majority voted in favour of a butter factory. A resolution "was passed, unanimously approving of the policy of the Opotikt Dairy Aeeociation "'in refusing to drop their .price to "that of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company when the parity of the London price justified a higher figure."
