There was a fairly large attendance of the, oubllc and local students, who followed toe, Contests with enthusiasm. Griffin and Petre Made the early running with all the competitors close Z. b.t entering on the half-mile Webber moved up. and at the end of the half-mile he and Vallance were together, just ahead of Stevenson, Moore and Griffin. In tne third lap Moore ran into third place lust behind Vallance. whom he passed as they were three hundred ysrds away frem Home. Webber put on the pace at this stage, witn Moore fifteen yards behind him, and the Wellington man lost ground in the nnai spurt, being beaten by 23 yards, while Webber finished strongly in time that equalled the University record for the race, of 4.32, established by A.
