First offenders were con* victed and discharged, and others were fined amounts varying from £1 to £3. William Parker (41) received a punch at a Xewmarket Hotel, and passed it on to William Young, an innocent by* stander. He was fined £2 for assaultCharles Kean (3S) excused himself for having used obscene language at Freeman's Bay by saying he was drunk and did not know what he was doing. ae "'* few beers went to his head."' He was prohibited and fined £2. Alexander Copley (21) refused to par his tram fare on Saturday whilst "under the influence.' . The ride cost him £1| with Court cost additional. "You have beeu hanging about the waterfront too long-," said Mr. Twohill to a little Liverpool fireman named Charles Lawrence McCartney.
