An accident occurred on Parawai Road I which resulted in the death of Mr- How. > ell Richard Robert Williams, son of the • late Mr. Joseph Williams, of Kopu. Mr. r Williams was on his way to Thames » from Kopu in a taxi-car owned and ■ driven by Mr. Percy Manning, and there I were several other people in the car, 5 including two children. 5 Just after the motor car had rounded '! a bend, a spring cart and horse came • I into view and a collision occurred. One I 1 of the shafts of the cart smashed the f windshield of the motor and struck Mr. Williams, who was in the front seat, on ; the head. The cart was driven by a ! Maori, Nuku JJeremana, and i* con ' ; tamed several other men, The injured • man was at once conveyed to the Thames Hospital, where he received • medical attention. His injuries were i so serious, however, that he died at • about two o'clock this morning. ' Deceased was a single man, 38 years ' of age, and resided at Kopu.
