The Auckland Racing Club's Autumn meeting was opened at Ellerslie to-day with a good attendance. The weather was cold with threatening showers, and the race track was very sodden after the. heavy rains. Results:— PRESIDENT'S HANDICAP of 630sovs. One mile and a-quarter. Going along the back Royal Abbey was out two length, clear of Glen Canny, which had Khublai Khan alongside him, and then came Sylvan. Scion. Boomerday, T'ncle Ned. Canowindra, Perfect Day. Night Time, War Tank. Mangamahoe, and Gold Plane, with Stork and Pente well hack. Crossing the top Glen Canny was within a length of Royal Abbey, while Boomerdny and Scion Improved their positions, and Uncle Ned made a forward move, with Sylvan, Khublai Khan and Perfect Day heading the others. Entering the straight Glen Canny ran past Royal Abbey, then Uncle Ned came "through and was alongside Glen Canny about the distance. The pair then drew away from the field, first one and then the other getting the advantage. Uncle Ned just heading his opponent on the post to get the decision by a nose. Boomerday was two lengths and a-half away, third, and then came Scion, Sylvan. Perfect Day, Royal Abbey. Gold Plan" and Khublai Khan, the laat pair being Forest Gold and Canowindra. Time, 2.12 3-D.
