AUSTRALIAN LABOUR PARTY. MODERATES IN REVOLT. (By Cable.—Press Association.—CopvrtgUt.l (Received 0 a.ni.) SYDNEY, this day. As a sequel to the expulsion of Mr. •I. H. Catts from the Australian Labour party by the executive, the members of the party who resent the autocratic rule of the executive held a meeting and adopted a basis for the reorganisation of the party. The meeting formed a new organisation to be known as tbe "'Majority Labour party." It is contended that at present the* party is being misrepresented by a minority section which has improperly obtained control of Macdonell House headquarters.—l A. and N.Z. Cable.) FEDERAL MEMBERS ALARMED. (Received lO.".o a.m.l MELBOURNE, this day. Unless the executive of the Labour party takes counter-action. Mr. Catts will sit in the House of Representatives as an Independent, thus strengthening the stability of the Government. The Federal Labour members arc alarmed at Mr. Catts' expulsion in view of the approaching Federal elections. They realise that the policy of the "wild men" who dominate Labour from within must destroy the original basis of the party. (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
