WAGES IN THE GOLDFIELDS.
A CONFERENCE IX WAIHI. (By Telegraph—Own Corresnondent.) WAIHI, this day. A conference between the local mining companies and the miners' union relative to the drafting of a new award is likely to be held at an early date. It is understood that the companies proposals embrace a reduction of wages from 15/0 per shift (which includes a bonus of sixpence per day) to I*2/3. The counter proposals by the union are said ;to be considerably higher.
