The inter-provlnelal lawn tennis match between teams representing Auckland, and Tarun-akl was coramSnoeil this luuralnn ou the Pnrnell Courts. Mr. J. C. Nicholson, the president of the Taranaki Lawn Tennis Association, and Dr. Allison ami some of the members of the Taranaki team arrived from New Plymouth by the Karawa this morning in time for the match, the others having arrived ou Wednesday. Mr. C. Griffiths is manager of the visiting team. and Mr. H. G. Thompson is acting as manager for the local team. So mr as piny has progressed, the match promises to lie close and interesting, some fine form having been shown. Much interest is being taken, as two members of the Auckland team, Misses Payton and McFarlane, are members of the New Zealand team which leaves for Sydney next week. During the week, In practice games, the members of the Taranaki team have shown excellent form. The matches were not commenced until 11 a.m.. owing to the heavy dew making the courts rather heavy early in the day. By noon the sun shone out sufficiently to make for good play and tine conditions. In the combined doubles game between Wallace and Miss Rundle (Taranaki) and E. W. Griffiths and Miss Payton (Auckland) the tennis was of a high standard, Wallace being particularly active, and was well backed up by his partner. In the Ladies' Singly the match between-Miss Brewster (Taranalci) and Miss McFarlane (Auckland) was finely fought. Miss McFarlane wlnclni* in the first set. S-β. In the second Vfft Miss Brewstnr led 3—l, but Miss McFarlane coming right Into her form took the next six games, winning 6—S. Results as far as the games have progressed arc :—
