DOUBLE TRAGEDY.
ANOTHER SHOOTING AFFRAY. MAX AND WOMAN KILLED. MELBOURNE, March 23. The epidemic of domestic shooting affrays in Melbourne is becoming more serious. With another double tragedy to-day, five people have died and three wounded—two seriously —within a week. The scene of to-day - s tragedy was a small grocer's shop, occupied by Annie Ha>cot', in Melrose Street, Xorth Melbourne. Shortly after 1.30 p.m. neighbours were startled by the reports of revolver shots, and discovered Mrs. Paacoe —who was 4'y years of age —lying dead in a pool of blood on the floor of the shop. She ha-d a bullet wound in her temple and another in her breast. Almost simultaneously a woman who rented a room at the rear of the shop found the dead body of a man —who is believcxl to be have been Joseph Aloysius i'ascoe (54), hucband of the 3ead woman—in a bedroom. The shooting had apparently taken place in the kitchen, and after being wounded Mrs. Fascoe evidently staggered into the shop, where she fell dead. I'aeeoe was formerly a miner at Broken Hill, and at different times, through disagreements, is said to have lived apart from hio wife, who was assisted in the i-hop by a 60n and daughter of a former marriage. The police have been informed that Fascoe had threatened to kill his wife.
