The shipment of Fiji bananas which arrived at Auckland by the Xavua yesterday were unfortunately landed in poor condition, as wae the previous shipment. Happily for the growers, however, a good demand exists at the pi'esent time, and as much as 16/ per case is being obtained for any cases that happen to contain green bananas. The ripe fruit, on the other hand, U selling from 14/ down to 5/ per case. It is considered that from the next shipment onward there should be no difficulty in landing the fruit in a green state, as cooler weather conditions will be obtaining both at the Islands and on the voyage. A dramatic lyric tenor, "The Unknown," will be introduced by the proprietors of the Belgium Lounge in Queen Street, on Thursday next, commencing at 3.30 p.m. Reports epeak highly of this operatic artist's ability.
