CAUGHT IN THE ACT.
■■ ■ ■ TWO MEN ARRESTED. i ; CHARGED WITH BURGLARY. I ESCAPE AND RECAPTURE. | (By Telegraph—Owe Ot -respondeat) PAPAROA, this day. A burglary occurred at Hook Bros.' store on Sunday morning. About 2 a.m. two men gained entrance through a. window, .seized a quantity of clothing and other goods, also a small amount in cash. They also attempted to pick the safe, but were unsuccessful, and were caught in the act by the owners, who detained them and rung Constable Smith, of Waipu. The constable motored through promptly and arrested the men, who gave the names of Frank Wood and Bert Moore. During detention in the prison before the arrival of the constable the men escaped, and got away a short distance, but were recaptured. Two horses stolen from the. V.M.C. _ Hall at Wairere were found tied near the store.
