MI-ES. —. s X AXNCA- MEETING. The annual meeting of the Coromandel School of Mines was held at the school on the 20th inst.. hefore a crowded audience. Section of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr. T. AY. - 'Rhodes, M.P.: vice-president.,, Captain W. a - Argall and Mr. F. I. Burgess: secretory. Mr. J. W. Barker: i-ouneil. Messrs. S. James. E. .1. -Surflen. H. F. Shepherd, J. O'Hara. A. G. Uarvev, W. Hunter, and J. " Prescott. Cert Ideates were D resented to 14 students Tho tad been successful at the recent **a_inat—ns and the Director (Mr. U. B. J-lis. A.0.5.M.) stated in his report that "J persons had attended the school during the year, with an average monthly atten■<l——c of 22. Besides various analyses jnd laboratory determinations. 141 samples had been assayed for sold and silver, there Seine a marked Increase in prospecting activity recently. Popular lectures were then jriven by CaP«m A-gall on "The Examination and Valuation of Mines.." Dr. Edie on "_i<rgers I Have Met." Mr. Inglis on "BoriEg as nn fid. to Prospe«'tinfr." and by Mr- K. V. t_ on "Combustion" with Illustrative Mr F P Burgess occupied Hi- Choir. _^
