SMITH SHIELD. The Smith Shield race. the rowinj event of the year. was rowed jH Saturday afternoon. l'rom the Waitemata Clubs shed. There was a large attendance of rowing enthusiast-, and keen interest was token in the ra ing. Final.-- Crews stroked by Fr.llas and Harvey faced the starter for rue final of the North Shore Club's trial four* for trophies presented by Mr. 11. Gruhb. Thcrews got well away together, but halfway Follas took the Vad and won.by half a length. The winning .row was: R. Follas (strokei. 11. Ar-ncr I'll. Scott (2), Lucas (bowl. ROTORUA REGATTA.
