ASSISTANCE FROM STATE. QUARTER MILLION A YEAR. (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, March 24. The Royal Commission of the Oxford and Cambridge Universities, appointed in 1!)1!) to consider the universites' applications for State financial assistance, has issued its report, recommending each university to-receive, instead of the existing interim grant of £30,000, an annual grant of £100,000, in addition to £10,000 for special purposes, embracing Avomen's education and extra-ir.ura.l Avork. and also a lump sum for pension arrears.— (A. and N.Z.
